The 2014 Barolo Conteisa is an impressive wine that defies the odds of the vintage

clove and violet nuances on the pretty mix of blue and black pinot fruit and plum aromas

particularly blue berry as well as notes of crushed herb

plum and attractively textured medium weight flavors deliver notably better length on the seductive yet relatively powerful finish

There is notably better mid palate density to the medium bodied and mineral driven flavors that display focused power on the bone dry, youthfully austere and lingering finish that is shaped by lemon tinged acidity. This is promising but in need of at least a few years of patience.
